Registering SKUs by importing

USE: Your registration in the system is processed after you are done organizing your product portfolio into supercategories, categories, product lines and SKUs. Registering products is a required step before creating your forms.

REQUIRED READING: Product structure, Adding product lines by import.

After registering your portfolio’s product lines you can proceed to importing your Products (SKUs). There are only three steps to it. Start by following the path:

Menu > Products > SKUs

On the SKU lists page click on Options, on the bottom left corner of the screen, and then click on Import. On the Import pop-up, click on Download Template; Wait for the file to download and open the document.

EDIT THE TEMPLATE

The import template is an XLSX spreadsheet and it contains similar fields to those on the manual register. Some are required, like Product line, Brand, Product Category and Active, marked with a (*).

You must pay attention when filling out the fields once in this template you will relate the SKU to a previously registeredProduct line . Understand the field requirements:

ID

ID is the unique number that identifies the SKU on Involves Stage. The system will automatically define this number and use it for editing mass data. For that reason, leave this column blank during your first import.

Tip

If you need to change the information on your products base in the future, you can export the information containing the IDs automatically defined by the system. When editing this information, don’t change the ID column so it would be recognizable by the system when reimporting the file.

PRODUCT LINE, BRAND and PRODUCT CATEGORY

Fill out the fields Product Lines, Brand and Product Category the same way you did it on the previous step. Be careful not to enter new information or typos, once the system will interpret it as a new registration.

PRODUCT

On this field you will register the SKU. Remember the characteristics of the products structure in Involves Stage.

BARCODE and ERP CODE

These fields are optional and should follow the structure of you product portfolio. Therefore, if the codes are registered on SKUs, you should leave them blank when importing Product Lines.

NEOGRID CODE

If your system is integrated with the NeoGrid system, here you can fill out your integration code .

ACTIVE

This field indicated the status of the SKU registration. If you wish it to be active, choose Yes, if not, choose No. It’s indicated that all products be active during the first import. A SKU should only be deactivated when it is no longer available in the market. Instead of deleting it, Involves Stage allows you to check the product as inactive. That way your company won’t lose any important data.

SAVE THE FILE

After filling out the spreadsheet with all the required information, save a copy of the file as CSV (Comma delimited).

IMPORT THE TEMPLATE

Back on Involves Stage, you can return from where you had stopped, or you can restart the process: Menu > Products > SKUs

  • Click on the Options, button, on the bottom left corner of the screen;

  • On the Import pop-up, click on Choose File;
  • Search on your computer the CSV file;
  • Check if the selected file is the correct one;
  • Then, click on Send.

The import process can also be used for updating your product base. Check out how to do it in the article:
